Linda Jones Cowley

Linda commenced her professional career as a teacher in Rathfriland Hill School for adults with intellectual disabilities for

5 years where she was involved in the establishment of a Northern Ireland  Rehabilitation Centre developing training programmes in

communications and life skills. She moved to Dublin where she worked for a further 10 years with the Daughters of Charity Services in developing further training programmes in communication and teaching life and social skills.

After a career break to raise a young family, Linda initially began her counselling studies in NUI, Maynooth and later graduated with a First in B.Sc, Counselling & Psychotherapy from Middlesex University. She is a director of LJC Consulting Limited and also operates a private Counselling and Psychotherapy practice. She has also volunteered in the St. Helena’s Resource Centre, Dublin for many years. Linda has also been Student Care and Progression Officer in PCI College where she worked with newly qualified counsellors on their training and professional development. She also managed the student low cost counselling service there.

Her professional practice involves dealing with people from a very wide spectrum of life, who present with a range of issues many of which are work related. A key objective of many of her interventions focuses on the achievement of personal or professional goals. In this context, Linda has developed many proven techniques that can assist clients in developing an awareness of strengths and talents so that they can become empowered to make life changes.

She is also accredited with many referral organisations including the HSE, Laya Healthcare Employee Assistance Programme, GP practices and Towards Healing.

In tandem with her counselling work, Linda has continued her professional development and has recently been one of a small group who achieved a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Psychotherapy from Trinity College.

Linda has a keen interest in art and plays tennis and enjoys much walking.
